People buy the gazebo to fit the tub and forget the tub has a lid that flips up 3+ feet, and that you need room to actually walk around it. Get the footprint and the clearance right and it's perfect. Get it wrong and you're returning a 400-lb gazebo.

Sizing: Measure the Tub, Then Add a Lot

Start with the tub's footprint, then add clearance on every side. A typical 6-7 person tub is about 7x7 to 8x8 ft. For that, you want a 12x12 minimum, 12x14 comfortable gazebo. Why so much bigger? You need ~24-30" of walk-around space on at least two sides, room for the cabinet panels to come off for service, and space for a step and a towel bench. Buy the gazebo for the space around the tub, not the tub itself.

Lid Clearance Is the #1 Mistake

Hard hot-tub covers lift on a hinge and stand up 30-40" above the tub rim, or slide back on a lifter that needs overhead room. If the gazebo roof or beams are too low, the lid hits them and you can't open the tub. Measure your cover lifter's fully-open height and make sure the gazebo's interior clearance beats it with margin. Most quality hardtops give you 7-8 ft at the eave, which is usually enough — but check, every time.

Roof + Ventilation for Steam

A hot tub throws a lot of moisture. A fully closed soft-top canopy traps steam and grows mildew fast. A vented hardtop lets the steam escape through the roof peak — this is exactly what you want. Aluminum frame and hardware are strongly preferred here because the constant humidity will rust cheap steel over a couple winters. This is a case where we'd never recommend a soft-top.

The Base Has to Carry the Load

A filled hot tub with people in it is 3,000-5,000+ lb concentrated on a small footprint. That load goes on the pad, not the gazebo — but the gazebo's posts need their own solid bearing too. The ideal setup is a single reinforced concrete slab that carries both the tub and the gazebo posts, with the posts anchored to it. If the tub's already on a pad, we anchor the gazebo posts around it into the slab or into new footings. Never set a hot tub on pavers or wood without confirming the load rating first.
