Mirador Louvered Pergolas: 80S vs 111S Round vs 111S Takasho, From the Crews Who Build Them

MIRADOR (sold at Costco as SORARA Mirador) is on 39 of the 313 gazebo and pergola records in our booking system, second only to Yardistry. On Amazon it comes in three families with the same louvered aluminum roof: the 80S (square posts; 10x10, 10x12, 10x20, with or without a shade screen), the 111S Round (rounded posts; 10x10 with shade screen, 10x13, 10x20) and the 111S Takasho (Cherry Oak wood-look finish; 10x10, 10x20). Pick the 80S unless you want softer lines (111S Round) or a wood look without wood upkeep (Takasho). Measure the pad for level at every post, because a slope a gazebo tolerates will bind a louver bank.
Why listen to us: Zomg The Handyman crews have assembled 2,500+ gazebos across all of California, years of work that predates our current booking system. Since April 2026 alone that system logged 45 completed gazebo, pergola and canopy assemblies in 30 California cities and 129 written gazebo and pergola quotes, and those recent job sheets are the numbers quoted in these guides. We are not reviewing boxes we have never opened. Everything below comes from kits our crews stood up, squared and anchored, or from what customers asked us before buying. Mirador job sheets this year include 8.8x14.4 Costco kits in San Diego, Lathrop and Fremont, a 10x12 drilled into a slab in Tustin, a 10x20 that replaced an old gazebo, a 12x24 in Murrieta, a pull-down screen install in Orinda and a six-footing quote for a 10x20 on dirt in Sacramento.

Our Picks
80S vs 111S Round vs 111S Takasho: What Actually Differs
| Family | Frame | Sizes on Amazon | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80S | Square aluminum posts and beams, powder coat | 10x10, 10x12, 10x20; 10x12 and 10x20 also with shade screen | You want the standard Mirador and the most size options |
| 111S Round | Rounded posts and beams | 10x10 with shade screen, 10x13, 10x20 | The pergola is in view of the house and square posts read too industrial, or 10x13 is the size that fits |
| 111S Takasho | Aluminum with Cherry Oak wood-look finish | 10x10, 10x20 | You want cedar warmth with no sealing, or the HOA asks for a wood tone |
The roof is the same idea across all three: aluminum louvers that rotate open for air and closed for shade and rain, with water channeled to the beams and down the posts. The frame changes, the assembly sequence does not. Shade screens are a separate install step with their own measurement; we did one as its own job in Orinda.
Mirador on Amazon vs SORARA Mirador at Costco
Costco sells the same brand under the SORARA Mirador name, mostly as the 8.8x14.4 kit our crews see constantly (Costco was on 54 of our 313 records). Amazon carries the 80S, 111S Round and Takasho families in the sizes above, which is where you go for 10x12, 10x13, 10x20, the shade-screen versions and the wood-look finish. Either way the kit arrives on a pallet in many cartons, and the assembly is the same drilled-base-plate job on a slab.
What the Crews See on Mirador Jobs
The louver mechanism is the whole kit. Our Cathedral City job note reads "assembly complexity increased due to louvered roof system requiring precise alignment," and that is every louvered pergola we have built: if the four posts are not plumb and the beams are not square, the slats bind. We string-line and square the base before a single louver goes in. Rain drains through the beams and down the posts, so the posts need to land on something that drains. Motorized versions add a circuit; our price book carries louvered pergola installation at $999 for that reason.
Times from our job sheets: 8.8x14.4 on an existing pad, one pro, 3.3 hours in San Diego; 10x12 drilled into a slab with a TV mount added, two pros, 5.5 hours in Tustin; 12x24 with anchoring, two pros, in Murrieta. Footings are the variable: the Sacramento 10x20 quote on dirt called for six footings with a 5 foot setback before the pergola could go up.
Measure Before You Buy (Cuts Returns)
Big outdoor kits are the items most likely to go back, and almost every return we hear about is a fit problem, not a quality problem. Spend ten minutes with a tape before you order. For a Mirador, check the pad for level at every post location, not just the corners, and confirm the shade-screen side faces the low sun before you order the screen version.
- Roof size is not post size. A "12x14" is the roof. The posts sit inside that line, and the eave sticks out past the posts on every side. Measure the pad for the roof and leave at least 2 to 3 feet of walk-around beyond the roof line so you can mow, open a gate and get the roof panels up on ladders.
- Height clearance. Check eaves, fence tops, the patio cover you already have and tree limbs. One of our jobs was moving a pergola 40 feet across a slab to clear a 10 foot lemon tree with a pergola that only had 7.5 feet of clearance. Measure the highest point of the roof on the spec sheet, then add a foot for the crew to lift panels into place.
- What is under it. Anchoring came up in 176 of the 313 gazebo records we pulled, more than any other topic. A level concrete slab is the easy case. Pavers are not a foundation: they shift, so we drill through to the base or pour footings. Dirt, grass or decomposed granite means poured footings (we did 29 footing conversations in this window). A wood deck means through-bolting to joists, never to the deck boards.
- Is the slab level? Leveling or an uneven pad came up 27 times. Lay a long level or a straight board across the pad in both directions. A slab that drops an inch over 12 feet still works, but tell the crew so they bring shims and a plan.
- Permits and HOA. Many California cities exempt a detached, open-sided structure under 120 square feet (about 10x12) from a building permit, but setbacks from the property line still apply and HOAs can be stricter than the city. Larger units and anything bolted to a slab may need a permit. One customer in the Bay Area needed HOA architectural approval and a no-drill anchor plan before we could start. Read our California gazebo permit guide before you order.
- Delivery reality. These kits arrive on a pallet in many cartons and often get left in the driveway. Plan the path to the backyard: gate width, steps, side-yard width. Hauling the packaging away came up 51 times, so expect a lot of cardboard and foam.
- Wind. Wind was mentioned 23 times, and our own job notes say "anchoring for California wind conditions" because an unanchored roof is a sail. If you live in a Santa Ana, sundowner or coastal gust area, budget for anchoring from day one and lean toward a hardtop with a vented double roof.
Buy It, Then Let Zomg Stand It Up
Our crews assemble any brand you buy, from Amazon, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe's or Wayfair, anywhere in California. Gazebo and pergola assembly starts at $500 in our price book, louvered pergola installation starts at $999, and most finished jobs landed between $650 and $1,900 once anchoring, footings, old-structure takedown or haul-away were added. The crew squares it, levels it, anchors it for wind and takes the packaging away.

What is the difference between Mirador 80S and 111S?
The roof is the same louvered aluminum system. The 80S has square posts and beams and the most sizes (10x10, 10x12, 10x20). The 111S Round has rounded posts and beams (10x10, 10x13, 10x20). The 111S Takasho is the 111S frame with a Cherry Oak wood-look finish (10x10, 10x20).
Is Mirador the same as SORARA Mirador at Costco?
Same brand. Costco sells it as SORARA Mirador, mostly the 8.8x14.4 kit. Amazon carries the 80S, 111S Round and Takasho families in 10x10 to 10x20 sizes, including shade-screen versions.
How long does a Mirador pergola take to assemble?
Our completed 8.8x14.4 jobs ran one pro in roughly three to five hours on an existing slab with anchoring. A 10x12 with anchoring was two pros and 5.5 hours; 10x20 and 12x24 units take two pros.
What does Mirador pergola installation cost?
Louvered pergola installation is $999 in our price book; gazebo and pergola assembly starts at $500. Footings, old-structure takedown and screens are quoted on top. The booking flow gives an exact number.
