Best 75 to 85 Inch TVs to Wall Mount (2026), and the Mount for Each: From the TV Mounting Crews
Above 75 inches, the TV and the mount have to be bought as a pair. An 85 inch set weighs 90 to 120 lb, uses a 600x400 VESA pattern, and needs a mount that spans two studs. These are the big TVs our crews mount most across California, the mount we pair with each, and the measurements to take before either box arrives.
TV mounting is the job we do more than any other, $149 in our price book, and the big screens are where it goes wrong for people who buy the TV first and the mount later. A 75 inch TV on a mount rated for 70 inches, a wall with steel studs, a fireplace with no room for the cable run. The TV itself is also the highest-value item on this page by a wide margin, so it pays to get both right.

Our Picks
The Mount We Pair With Each
For 75 to 85 inch TVs we use full-motion mounts rated for at least 125 lb with a 600x400 VESA plate and a wall plate wide enough to hit two studs at 16 or 24 inch spacing. Fixed and tilting mounts work when the TV faces the seating straight on. Full motion is what most customers want in a living room so the screen can turn toward the kitchen.
- Sanus Advanced Full-Motion for 42 to 90 inch TVs: the mount we carry on the truck for big screens. Post-install leveling and a long extension.
- ECHOGEAR Full Motion for 42 to 90 inch TVs: nearly the same hardware at a lower price. Solid, heavy, fits 600x400.
- Mounting Dream 42 to 90 inch full motion: the value pick that still spans two studs and carries 130 lb.
All three are in the Complete the Job list below.
Measure and Check Before You Buy
- Studs. Find them with a stud finder and mark the spacing. 16 inches is normal; 24 inches shows up in garages and newer homes. The mount's wall plate has to reach two of them. Steel studs (common in condos and commercial) need a different fastener plan. Plaster and brick are their own jobs.
- Weight and VESA. Look both up on the TV's spec page. 85 inch TVs are 90 to 120 lb; most use 600x400. Match the mount's rated weight with margin.
- Seating distance. 75 inches looks right from 9 to 12 ft. 85 inches wants 10 to 14 ft. Closer than that and the picture is in your lap.
- Height. Center of the screen at seated eye level, about 42 inches off the floor, unless the TV goes over a fireplace. Then it goes where the mantel lets it and a tilting or pull-down mount brings it back toward you.
- Power and cable path. An outlet behind the TV, or a recessed power kit, or an in-wall cable kit. Without one of those, the cords hang down the wall. Over a fireplace, check what is inside the chase before anyone drills.
- Soundbar. Leave 4 to 6 inches under the TV or buy a soundbar bracket that hangs from the mount.
Install Difficulty, From the Crew
An 85 inch TV on a full-motion mount is a two-person job, no exceptions. The panel is too wide for one person to seat on the wall plate safely, and a slip is the whole price of the TV. Our crew does a standard wood-stud mount in 60 to 90 minutes including in-wall cable kit. Fireplaces, brick, steel studs and the Frame bezel add time.
TV mounting is $149 in our price book and Frame TV mounting is $199. 85 inch and over-fireplace jobs are quoted after photos of the wall. See TV mounting, book online, or send a quote request with photos.
Bright Room or Dark Room
California living rooms are bright. A Mini-LED or Neo QLED (Samsung, TCL, Hisense) holds up to afternoon sun through a west window. An OLED (LG C series) looks better in a controlled room and reflects more in a bright one. If the TV is going opposite a window with no blinds, buy the QLED.

What size TV mount do I need for an 85 inch TV?
A mount rated for the TV's weight (90 to 120 lb for most 85 inch sets), a 600x400 VESA plate, and a wall plate that spans two studs. The 42 to 90 inch full-motion mounts from Sanus, ECHOGEAR and Mounting Dream all qualify.
How much does it cost to mount an 85 inch TV?
TV mounting is $149 in our price book. 85 inch, over-fireplace, brick and steel-stud installs are quoted from photos of the wall.
Can one person mount a 75 inch TV?
Not safely. The panel is too wide to seat on the wall plate alone. We send two people on every 75 inch and larger job.
How far should I sit from an 85 inch TV?
10 to 14 feet for 4K content. 75 inches is comfortable from 9 to 12 feet.
What is different about mounting a Samsung Frame TV?
The Frame uses its own slim mount, a single One Connect cable, and a bezel that attaches after mounting. Frame TV mounting is $199 in our price book because of those steps.
