Measure before you buy
Most returns on items like these come down to fit, and a returned item costs you a week and a trip. Four numbers settle it:
- Throw distance: measure from where the projector will sit to the screen wall and check it against the model's throw ratio for your screen size.
- Mount height and shelf: projectors and receivers need the ventilation gap the manual specifies.
- In-wall speakers: the cutout must land between studs, so locate them before choosing speaker size.
- Cable runs: measure the path for HDMI and speaker wire and add slack.
Channel Counts Explained
5.1: front L/R + center + rear L/R + sub. 7.2: adds 2 surround speakers. 5.1.2: 5.1 + 2 Atmos overhead. 7.1.4: 7.1 + 4 overhead (full Atmos).
HDMI 2.1 + 8K
Modern AV receivers should be 8K-ready (HDMI 2.1, 48 Gbps). The AVR-X1800H is. Older 4K-only receivers are obsolete in 2026.
